The National PTA Reflections Program is a nationwide arts recognition program that encourages students to express themselves creatively through original works of art inspired by an annual theme. Founded in 1969, it is one of the oldest and largest student arts programs in the United States. Each year, hundreds of thousands of students from preschool through 12th grade participate.

Reflections Theme:
The 2026-2027 Reflections program theme is "What My Culture Means to Me." This theme was created by Sophia Partola from Wilton High School PTSA in Connecticut.
Reflections Categories and Divisions
Students create artworks in one or more of the available arts category areas and submit entries to their PTA in the appropriate division. Check with your local PTA to see which categories and divisions are available.
Dance Choreography-
Students create and perform an original dance.
Dance styles may include:
Ballet
Hip-hop
Contemporary
Jazz
Cultural or traditional dance
Modern
Music Composition-
Students compose an original musical piece.
Can be:
Instrumental
Vocal
Electronic music
Classical
Pop
Jazz
The music must be entirely original.
Photography-
Students submit an original photograph they took themselves.
Photography may include:
Portraits
Nature
Architecture
Abstract photography
Digital photography (light editing is generally allowed)
Film Production-
Students produce an original film.
Formats may include:
Live action
Animation
Stop-motion
Documentary
Experimental film
Students should write, direct, and edit their own work.
Literature-
Students express the theme through writing.
Can include:
Short stories
Poems
Essays
Personal narratives
Spoken word (written submission)
Visual Arts-
Students create a two-dimensional or three-dimensional piece of art.
Examples:
Painting
Drawing
Mixed media
Sculpture
Printmaking
Fiber arts
Ceramics
Digital illustration (when created by the student)
